Magnifique vs. Ninja Crispi: Which Glass Air Fryer Is Better?

Model note: This comparison covers the original Ninja Crispi FN101 4-in-1 series, including current color variants such as FN101GY and FN101ST. I am not comparing the Crispi Pro, DualZone, or another newer Crispi model.

At first glance, Magnifique’s Air Crisper and the Ninja Crispi look like versions of the same idea: a compact heating unit sitting over a clear glass cooking container.

Look underneath the food, though, and the comparison changes.

The current Magnifique Air Crisper uses borosilicate glass vessels and a stainless steel crisper disk. The Ninja Crispi uses borosilicate glass vessels too, but its crisper plates are aluminum coated with a nano-ceramic nonstick coating. SharkNinja states that its food-contact surfaces are made without PFAS and PTFE.

That does not make the Ninja Crispi inherently unsafe. It does mean these are not materially equivalent glass air fryers.

For my own standards, I prefer the simpler glass and stainless steel food-contact construction of the Magnifique whenever it is available.

Magnifique’s model, wattage and material specifications come from its current AFR52P owner’s guide and product page. SharkNinja’s current FN101 documentation confirms the capacities, wattage, dimensions, warranty and included components listed above.

They Both Use Glass. That Does Not Make Them the Same.

The glass vessel is only one part of an air fryer’s food-contact system.

For many foods, especially fries, vegetables, wings and frozen snacks, you place the food on a perforated crisper plate to let hot air circulate underneath. That plate matters just as much as the glass surrounding it.

Magnifique identifies its Glasspots as borosilicate glass and its crisper disk as stainless steel. Its product page describes the disk specifically as “pure stainless steel,” and I found no current Magnifique documentation describing a nonstick or ceramic coating on it.

Ninja’s current disclosure is different. The FN101 containers are borosilicate glass with BPA-free plastic handles. Its crisper plates are aluminum with a nano-ceramic coating, its storage lids are BPA-free plastic, and its modular base incorporates BPA-free plastic and stainless steel. SharkNinja says all food-contact surfaces are designed without PFAS and PTFE.

The food is not normally sitting on bare aluminum in the Ninja Crispi. It sits on the nano-ceramic coating applied over the aluminum plate. The aluminum is the substrate underneath that coating.

Likewise, PFAS-free does not mean coating-free. Ninja can truthfully disclose a PFAS- and PTFE-free food-contact system while still using a ceramic-style nonstick coating.

My preference is simpler: when I have a practical option to cook on glass and uncoated stainless steel, I prefer that over a coated aluminum surface.

That is why Magnifique wins the materials comparison for me.

It is also consistent with the standards I use throughout my non-toxic air fryer guide and broader product research criteria.

Materials and Food-Contact Surfaces

This is the strongest reason I would buy the Magnifique.

Magnifique lists borosilicate glass, stainless steel and food-grade silicone among the Air Crisper’s materials. More importantly, the company says the main cooking surfaces touching food are glass and stainless steel. Its crisper disk is specifically identified as stainless steel rather than coated aluminum.

There is still some plastic in the system. The current 2026 manual refers to the storage component as a plastic lid cover.

That does not change the main cooking comparison. The storage lid is not the surface used underneath food during high-heat air frying.

Magnifique also says “NO PFAS” and “NO Teflon” on the current product page. It advertises the Air Crisper as third-party tested, and publishes results on their website. It also covers lead, cadmium or other heavy metals.

Capacity

Magnifique gives you 4.5-quart and 2.5-quart Glasspots, both larger than Ninja’s corresponding standard 4-quart and 6-cup containers. Magnifique markets the larger vessel for four to six servings and the smaller one for two to three.

Controls and Cooking Modes

One distinction worth making of the Air Crisper: the current AFR52P does not give you manual temperature adjustment.

You choose a mode and adjust the cooking time.

According to Magnifique’s current owner’s guide:

ModeTemperatureFan speedTime range
Bake400°F1,800 rpm1 to 30 min
Air Fry425°F2,500 rpm1 to 60 min
ReCrisp400°F2,500 rpm1 to 30 min
MaxCrisp450°F2,500 rpm1 to 60 min

The plus and minus buttons adjust time, not temperature. Each mode defaults to 10 minutes.

That makes The Air Crisper simple, but not particularly flexible.

Anyone hoping for 325°F baking, low-temperature dehydrating or precise manual temperature control should look elsewhere.

Cooking Performance

Magnifique’s Air Fry and MaxCrisp modes run at 425°F and 450°F, respectively, so it has the high heat expected from a compact crisping appliance. The manual recommends MaxCrisp specifically for frozen foods and suggests flipping or shaking foods during cooking when needed.

Cleaning

The current Magnifique owner’s guide says the Glasspot, crisper disk and lid are dishwasher safe. The heating unit should only be wiped clean and must never be immersed in water.

The Glasspot is also microwave, refrigerator and freezer safe, but it is not oven or stovetop safe. Magnifique gives fairly conservative thermal-shock instructions: cool hot glass before refrigerating or freezing, and bring refrigerated glass back to room temperature before placing it under the Air Crisper.

For dishwasher detergent that does not leave me side-eyeing the ingredient list, see my non-toxic dishwasher detergent guide 👀.

What I Like

The biggest advantage is easy to identify: glass and stainless steel are doing the actual high-heat cooking.

I also like the two genuinely useful vessel sizes, 10-pound total weight, see-through cooking chamber and ability to use the Glasspot for refrigerated storage after it has cooled appropriately.

The current warranty provides a one-year warranty for the AirCrisper unit and a three-year warranty for the Glasspot.

What I Don’t Like

The controls are more restrictive than the design initially suggests. You cannot dial in a cooking temperature.

Magnifique also has a much smaller documented replacement-part ecosystem than Ninja. Its current manual says replacement parts are available through the website, but I could not verify the same menu of individual bowls, lids and crisper components that Ninja currently offers.

Who Should Buy Magnifique

Choose Magnifique if your first question is, “What is my food actually cooking on?”

It is the stronger fit for someone who wants a glass air fryer without relying on a ceramic-style nonstick crisper plate and who is comfortable with preset temperatures.

It is also my preferred Ninja Crispi alternative under Naturally Non-Toxic’s stricter materials standard.

Materials and Food-Contact Surfaces

This is the part of the Ninja Crispi description that gets oversimplified online.

Yes, the containers are glass.

More specifically, SharkNinja currently identifies them as borosilicate glass with BPA-free plastic handles.

But the crisper plates are not glass or stainless steel. SharkNinja identifies them as aluminum with a nano-ceramic coating. The modular base contains BPA-free plastic and stainless steel, while the storage lids are BPA-free plastic.

SharkNinja also states:

All food-contact surfaces are designed without PFAS and PTFE.

That claim matters, and it should not be erased simply because the crisper plate does not meet my own material preference. SharkNinja says it works with independent third-party laboratories to ensure compliance with global regulations and safety standards.

I did not locate a publicly posted FN101-specific lab report showing the laboratory, analytical method and complete test results, however.

Is the Aluminum Exposed?

Not during normal use with an intact crisper plate, based on the construction Ninja describes.

The aluminum is underneath the nano-ceramic coating. Food sitting on the crisper plate therefore contacts the coating rather than bare aluminum.

My objection: I would rather skip the coated plate entirely when an uncoated stainless steel alternative exists.

Capacity

The standard FN101 includes a 4-quart large container and 6-cup small container.

SharkNinja says the 4-quart container can fit a 4-pound chicken with vegetables, while the 6-cup container is intended for personal meals.

RTINGS independently measured the main vessel at the advertised 4 quarts with 53.2 square inches of cooking surface. Its small vessel measured about 1.6 quarts with 28.84 square inches of surface area. RTINGS considered the main size most appropriate for one or two people rather than large batch cooking.

Controls and Cooking Modes

The standard 4-in-1 FN101 gives you:

  • Max Crisp
  • Bake
  • Air Fry
  • Recrisp

There is no manual temperature control. SharkNinja’s current FAQ specifically distinguishes the original Crispi from Crispi Pro by noting that adjustable temperature is a Pro feature not available on the original.

RTINGS measured an overall preset temperature range of roughly 375°F to 450°F. Air Fry operated around 400°F to 425°F, Bake around 375°F to 400°F, Recrisp around 380°F to 400°F and Max Crisp around 425°F to 450°F.

If you have seen a Ninja Crispi with six functions and adjustable temperatures, you are probably looking at the Crispi Pro, not this FN101.

Cooking Performance

This is one area where Ninja has a major informational advantage: people have actually put it through standardized independent testing.

RTINGS found that the FN101 preheats and cooks quickly, especially with the small container. However, its standardized frying test was much less impressive. Using the large vessel, 40 percent of the tested fries finished crispy while 60 percent remained undercooked. The smaller vessel did slightly better overall but produced a mix of crisp, undercooked and overcooked fries.

That does not mean every plate of food coming out of a Crispi will be mediocre. Different food, quantity, oil, positioning and cooking time can change the result substantially.

Cleaning

This is one of Ninja’s strongest categories.

SharkNinja says all Crispi accessories are dishwasher safe, and the glass containers double as serving and storage dishes.

The coated crisper plates may also release stuck-on food more easily than bare stainless steel, although long-term coating condition becomes another consideration.

If a crisper plate eventually becomes damaged or heavily worn, Ninja makes replacement pieces unusually easy to find. That matters more to me with a coated cooking surface than it would with bare stainless steel.

What Ninja Does Well

Ninja has a much more mature accessory system.

The current product page lists additional 4-quart, 2.5-quart and 6-cup CleanCrisp containers, storage lids and other replacement components. At the time I checked, SharkNinja listed the 4-quart container at $49.99, the 6-cup container at $32.99 and replacement storage lids separately.

It also has stronger retail availability and a 60-day direct-purchase money-back guarantee on qualifying purchases, compared with Magnifique’s 30-day return-request window.

Why I Don’t Currently Recommend the Ninja Crispi

My decision comes down to one component: the crisper plate.

SharkNinja’s current documentation confirms that it is aluminum with a nano-ceramic coating. It also confirms that its food-contact surfaces are designed without PFAS and PTFE.

Those statements are not contradictory.

A PFAS-free ceramic coating is still a coating.

And coated aluminum is still different from bare stainless steel.

I generally avoid ceramic-style and nano-ceramic nonstick food-contact surfaces when I can choose glass or uncoated stainless steel instead. I prefer fewer layers, simpler material construction and a cooking surface that does not depend on a nonstick coating remaining intact.

That is an editorial material preference, not evidence that the Ninja Crispi is poisoning food, that its coating is unsafe in normal use, or that the aluminum underneath is routinely exposed.

The Magnifique simply gives me a construction I prefer.

Who Might Still Prefer Ninja Crispi

Ninja makes more sense if you value retail availability, replacement parts, a very small single-serving container and a well-established accessory ecosystem more than avoiding ceramic-style coatings.

Someone comfortable using a PFAS- and PTFE-free nano-ceramic coating could reasonably prefer the Ninja system. It just does not reach my highest material tier.

Which One Has the Better Materials?

Magnifique.

This is the clearest win in the entire comparison.

The Magnifique Air Crisper gives me borosilicate glass plus a stainless steel crisper disk. Ninja gives me borosilicate glass plus a nano-ceramic-coated aluminum crisper plate.

For someone whose only goal is avoiding PTFE, the Ninja disclosure may be enough.

For my standard, which prioritizes what food touches and not only what a coating excludes, Magnifique has the material profile I prefer.

This is the same reason I usually favor glass, stainless steel, cast iron and carbon steel in my non-toxic cookware guide.

Which One Has More Useful Capacity?

Magnifique wins on nominal capacity.

Its included containers are 4.5 and 2.5 quarts.

Ninja’s standard set is 4 quarts and 6 cups.

That makes Magnifique more attractive for two-person portions and somewhat larger meals. The 2.5-quart small bowl is also substantially more useful for a side dish than Ninja’s tiny personal-size vessel.

Ninja wins if your definition of useful is a genuinely small bowl for one serving. Its 6-cup container heats quickly and takes up very little space.

For air frying large batches of fries or wings, neither is enormous. A wider 6-quart-plus fryer can offer more single-layer cooking surface than either glass system.

Magnifique vs. Ninja Crispi Price and Value

Magnifique’s standard price is $159.99 (save $20 during their Labor Day Sale – Up to 15% Off Sitewide (September 4–14).

The Ninja Crispi’s standard price is $179.99, although the market price is often lower. On July 30, 2026, some current SharkNinja colorways were listed at $159.99 while others remained at $179.99.

For me, Magnifique is the better materials value at often a cheaper price because the main feature I care about is exactly what Ninja does not offer: a stainless steel crisper surface without ceramic-style nonstick.

Are These Really Non-Toxic Air Fryers?

“Non-toxic” is not a regulated universal appliance category. I use it according to the material and disclosure standards explained in my How I Research and Choose Products page.

A glass bowl alone is not enough for me to call an air fryer a top material pick.

I look at the bowl, plate, basket, coating, substrate metal, plastics around the food zone and the manufacturer’s documentation.

That is why the Magnifique and Ninja Crispi land in different tiers despite both using borosilicate glass.

PFAS-free does not mean coating-free.

Coating-free does not mean every component of an appliance is plastic-free or perfectly disclosed.

And a product falling outside my preferred materials standard does not establish that normal use is harmful.

For more models, see my full guide to the best non-toxic air fryers without Teflon or PFAS.

My Pick for Naturally Non-Toxic: Magnifique

The materials difference is significant enough that I would choose Magnifique The Air Crisper for my own recommendation list.

Both systems give you borosilicate glass.

Only one of these two gives you a stainless steel crisper surface instead of coated aluminum.

Frequently Asked Questions

For food-contact materials, yes. Magnifique uses borosilicate glass with a stainless steel crisper disk, while the Ninja Crispi uses borosilicate glass with nano-ceramic-coated aluminum crisper plates.

Ninja markets the Crispi as designed for “nontoxic cooking” and says all food-contact surfaces are designed without PFAS and PTFE. “Non-toxic” does not have one universal appliance standard, however.

The FN101 still uses a nano-ceramic nonstick coating over aluminum on its crisper plates. That construction falls outside the stricter standard I use for Naturally Non-Toxic, but that is not the same as saying the appliance is proven harmful in normal use.

Yes. SharkNinja currently states that the FN101 crisper plates are made from aluminum with a nano-ceramic coating.

Yes. Aluminum is the substrate of the plate.

Food normally contacts the nano-ceramic coating over that aluminum rather than an exposed bare aluminum surface.

Yes. SharkNinja currently calls it a nano-ceramic coating. Independent testing by RTINGS also identifies the crisper surface as ceramic nonstick.

SharkNinja states that all food-contact surfaces on the original Crispi are designed without PFAS.

I would describe that as a manufacturer claim rather than substitute it for a product-specific public laboratory report.

Yes, according to SharkNinja’s current FN101 disclosure. The company states that all food-contact surfaces are designed without PTFE.

Magnifique states “NO PFAS” on the current Air Crisper product page. I could not locate a public Air Crisper laboratory report with the analytical details needed to independently verify that claim.

Its main disclosed cooking surfaces appear to be coating-free.

Magnifique identifies its crisper disk as pure stainless steel and does not disclose a nonstick coating on it. Its cooking vessel is borosilicate glass.

Stainless steel.

Magnifique’s current product specifications and product description both identify it as stainless steel, with the latter calling it a “pure stainless steel crisper disk.”

Magnifique uses stainless steel in the component that matters most to this comparison: the crisper disk food cooks on.

Ninja discloses stainless steel in its modular base, but the FN101 crisper plates are aluminum with a nano-ceramic coating.

Magnifique appears to have fewer disclosed plastic components around its cooking-vessel system.

Ninja specifies BPA-free plastic handles, BPA-free plastic lids and BPA-free plastic within the modular base. Magnifique’s current manual does refer to a plastic lid cover.

Ninja gets a slight convenience advantage. All Crispi accessories are dishwasher safe, and the nano-ceramic crisper plate provides a nonstick surface.

Magnifique’s current manual also permits the Glasspot, stainless steel crisper disk and lid in the dishwasher, but bare stainless may occasionally need soaking or scrubbing.

Magnifique includes the larger vessels: 4.5 quarts and 2.5 quarts, compared with Ninja’s 4 quarts and 6 cups.

The Ninja itself has the smaller countertop footprint in some dimensions, though. Its current dimensions are 11.5 x 9.76 x 11.81 inches versus Magnifique’s 12 x 12 x 9.5 inches.

Magnifique has the better included capacity for family portions.

Neither would be my first choice for someone routinely air frying large single-layer batches for a big family. Capacity in quarts does not tell you how much food can spread across the crisper surface without crowding.

Yes, particularly if your reason for looking at a glass air fryer is to reduce coated food-contact cooking surfaces.

It keeps the glass-container concept but replaces Ninja’s nano-ceramic-coated aluminum crisper plate with stainless steel.

For prep work to go with it, my guide to Non-Toxic Cutting Boards: Safe, Healthy Alternatives to Plastic covers the same material-first approach.

Final Thoughts

The glass is not the deciding difference between the Magnifique Air Crisper and Ninja Crispi.

They both use borosilicate glass cooking containers.

The important difference is what sits inside that glass: stainless steel in the Magnifique, or nano-ceramic-coated aluminum in the Ninja Crispi FN101.

Ninja still has legitimate strengths. It is quick, compact, easy to clean, well supported and exceptionally convenient for leftovers.

For my own kitchen, though, I would take the simpler glass and stainless steel construction of the Magnifique Air Crisper.
